The Poteet Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1947.  The fire department is in the City of Poteet and in Atascosa County.  The Poteet V.F.D. is a 100% volunteer organization and is composed of citizens from the City of Poteet and surrounding areas.  The Fire Department has a large coverage area and the map is provided below.  The Fire Department responds to fires, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and public assistance.  Their volunteers train to handle a variety of other emergencies including vehicle extrication, swift water rescue, high and low angle rescue, and haz-mat incidents.

FIRE CHIEF

Curtis Adams is the current Fire Chief for the Poteet volunteer Fire Department.  Chief Adams joined the department in 1994 and became Fire Chief in 1998 where he still remains.
